Basis-Elterngeld is paid for up to 14 months (2 partnership bonus months). Elterngeld Plus extends payments at half the rate for up to 28 months. Income cap for eligibility: €200,000/year (single). From 2024, parents with income > €150,000 may face reduced eligibility.

What is the Elterngeld-Rechner?

Elterngeld (parental allowance) is paid to parents who take time off work after the birth of a child. Basis-Elterngeld replaces 65–67% of your net income (calculated from the 12 months before the birth month), capped at €1,800/month and floored at €300/month. The standard period is 12 months, extended to 14 months when both parents take at least 2 months each (Partnermonate).
