Water Intake During Pregnancy Calculator
Pregnant women need about 2.3-2.5 litres of water per day, compared to 2 litres for non-pregnant adults of the same weight. The extra fluid supports increased blood volume (which rises 40-50% during pregnancy), amniotic fluid production, and fetal tissue growth.

Common questions about Water Intake During Pregnancy Calculator
What happens if I am dehydrated during pregnancy?
Mild dehydration during pregnancy can cause Braxton Hicks contractions, reduce amniotic fluid volume, cause headaches and dizziness, and in third trimester may trigger preterm labor. Urine color is the easiest check - pale yellow is ideal. If urine is dark or you are not urinating every 3-4 hours, drink more.
Can I drink lemon water during pregnancy?
Yes, lemon water is safe and many pregnant women find it helps with nausea in the first trimester. The citric acid is fine in normal amounts. Avoid excessive amounts (more than 2-3 lemons per day) as very high citric acid may irritate tooth enamel and the GI tract.
Does water help with morning sickness?
Sipping small amounts of cold water throughout the day can help with nausea - large amounts at once may worsen it. Carbonated water (sparkling) works for some women. Ginger-infused water is another option. Staying hydrated is important because vomiting from morning sickness increases fluid loss.
